The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Recap: Dinner, Drinks & Stripper Poles

Yolanda has become the woman surrounded by lemons.  It seems every time we see her there are fresh lemons somewhere in the picture.
Seriously though, this woman is the sexy Martha Stewart of Malibu. Plus 20. She should have her own series of books on how to take care of your uber-rich husband.
Loved the lunch with Suzanne Somers.  She's a beautiful women but I'm with Lisa about the pills. Minus 11 when you've got to carry around your own drug store where ever you go.
Since when did it become appropriate lunch conversation to ask someone you've just met how high their sex drive is?  Minus 9. Do we really need to all share that information with the class?
Of course what Lisa does share in her British accent is funny as ever. "I'm not good at swallowing things. Just ask my husband." Plus 15.
It's Kyle's daughter's sixth grade graduation so they throw her a party.  Just family, friends, the Maloofs, and the normal following of reality TV cameras.
Minus 11 for letting the 11 year old have a normal party.  Or perhaps that is normal for Beverly HIlls.
Kyle's sisters are no shows. When do you think she'll realize they just don't like her very much?

Kim's done with her psychic readings and off to the plastic surgeon.  She wants a new nose.  Plus 10 for deciding not to go to Paul.  It's probably safer to keep a line between friends and people cutting into your face.
The ladies are off to Vegas for the debut of Brandi's Night School. Ms. Glanville's never stripped but she needs to make a living. So lets twirl around a pole and have some fun. Plus 12.
Least surprising moment. Finding out that Eddie Cibrian once bought Brandi Glanville a stripper pole.
Second least surprising moment. They didn't stay at a Maloof property.
But not everyone is up for the challenge as Lisa balks, "I don't want to wrap my legs around anything in Vegas." Minus 14. Maybe she should have brought Ken along.
Things get warm and fuzzy over dinner as Brandi shares her softer side. Plus 16. Kyle even acts like a sympathetic friend.
Then in a show of catty girl power they all gang up and make fun of LeAnn Rimes.
So who will find their inner sexy and who will wimp out?  Tune in next week to find out.
EPISODE TOTAL: +28! SEASON TOTAL: -288!

Catherine Zeta-Jones to perform Oscars tribute to musical movies

When Catherine Zeta-Jones first stepped onto the stage at the Hazel Johnson School of Dance in Swansea she probably only dreamed of performing before the A-list celebrities at the Oscars.
But that is exactly what the Swansea-born actress will be doing next month when she will lead a tribute to musical movies the star-studded ceremony, televised live to 225 countries around the world.
Inspired by the huge success of Les Miserables – nominated for eight Oscars – the producers of the Academy Awards ceremony have announced the big night on February 24 at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre will feature a tribute to musicals from recent years including Chicago and Dreamgirls.
The 43-year-old Zeta-Jones won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2003 for her part in the movie of the musical Chicago playing Velma Kelly.
Chicago (2002) was a major commercial success, grossing more than $306m worldwide and receiving universal acclaim.
And in August 2009 Zeta-Jones returned once again to her musical roots by making her Broadway debut in the revival of A Little Night Music with Angela Lansbury.
Zeta-Jones picked up an Outer Critics Circle Award, Drama Desk Award and a prized Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical.
But speaking in Los Angeles, she admitted to being “absolutely terrified” by the prospect of taking a lead role in the tribute.
Promoting her latest movie, the psychological thriller Side Effects, which opens in cinemas on February 28, and which co-stars Jude Law and Channing Tatum, Zeta-Jones joked she may need to try some of the pills which are a feature of the new movie to get through a live Oscars performance.
But she added the musicals tribute would be “great fun”.
She said: “I don’t quite know the exact capacity in which I will be at the Oscars, but I’ll be there, put it that way.
“I don’t quite know exactly what I’m doing.”
Australian actor Hugh Jackman who stars in Les Miserables is tipped to be joining her on the Oscar night musicals tribute.
Meryl Streep (Mama Mia!), Jennifer Hudson (an Oscar winner for Dreamgirls) and John Travolta (Hairspray) are other names thought to be taking part in the tribute.
It is also expected that the Les Miserables cast, including Anne Hathaway and Samantha Barks, will perform a medley or ensemble song from the $273m grossing movie.
Neil Meron and Craig Zadan are producing this year’s Oscars ceremony which will be hosted by Seth MacFarlane, the American actor, voice actor, animator, screenwriter and producer who is the creator of Family Guy and co-creator of American Dad!
Zadan and Meron served as executive producers on the movie of Chicago which explains the Zeta-Jones link.
Explaining the tribute idea they said in a statement: “The musical as a motion picture genre has had a remarkable renaissance in the last decade.”
Zeta-Jones made her professional acting debut in a musical when she was just 11 playing the lead in Annie, a production at Swansea’s Grand Theatre. And when she was 14, her career began to take off when she was cast as Tallulah in the theatre hit Bugsy Malone.
By 1987 she was starring in London’s West End, playing the role of Peggy Sawyer in 42nd Street. She also played Mae Jones in Kurt Weill’s opera Street Scene in 1989 (aged 20), working with English National Opera at the London Coliseum.
Zeta-Jones is now a board member of the National Dance Foundation of Bermuda where she and her husband Michael Douglas have a home.
nd the actress also hands out annual scholarships to promising dancers from the island.
Zeta-Jones will not be the only Brit performing at the Oscars ceremony after it was confirmed singer Adele will perform her Bond theme song from Skyfall the first Bond song nominated since For Your Eyes Only in 1981).
London born Adele whose father Mark Evans in a plumber from South Wales, said: “It’s an honour to be nominated and terrifyingly wonderful to be singing in front of people who have captured by imagination over and over again.”
Grammy-award winner Norah Jones, the New York born daughter of late sitar maestro Ravi Shankar, will also perform Everybody Needs a Best Friend from the movie Ted at the Oscars.
The song, with music by Walter Murphy, contains lyrics by Oscars host Seth MacFarlane and like Skyfall, it is nominated for a Best Original Song Oscar.

Rita Ora on why the UK is going crazy for her

Rita Ora came from nowhere to release three number-one singles and a chart-topping debut album. On the eve of her first UK tour, the singer tells Emily Lambert about her stunning rise to fame
WHAT a difference 12 months make. Just ask Rita Ora. “I went to the Brits last year and no-one even noticed I was there. No-one took a photograph or anything, and a year later I’m up for some awards.”
The singer, who seemingly came out of nowhere to become one of 2012’s biggest stars, is up for two awards – Best Breakthrough and Best Single.

It was at the tail end of 2011 when things started to move quickly, as she appeared in the video for Hot Right Now with DJ Fresh.
Before that, she’d only really been seen in a handful of online videos, but by the time of the song’s official release in February last year – it went straight to number one and ended up selling more than 480,000 copies – she was one of the most talked-about singers in the country.
As an introduction it clearly worked and Rita’s subsequent two singles, RIP with Tinie Tempah and How We Do, followed Hot Right Now to number one.
Meanwhile, her debut album Ora topped the chart, finishing the year with sales of around a quarter of a million copies.
“That’s definitely the most surreal thing that’s happened to me,” says the 22-year-old Londoner.
“The success of the singles and the tour selling out within minutes of the tickets going on sale as well – all of last year was crazy.”
Rita is getting used to “surreal”. She was signed by Jay-Z’s management company and record label Roc Nation in New York after Mr Beyonce himself called to request a meeting.
At the time she was at college studying for her A-levels and working in a trainer shop on Portobello Road in West London in order to pay musicians to play with her at gigs in the evening.
“I’d play anywhere, bars and clubs, just to be out singing,” she says.
“I guess Roc Nation heard about me just through people they know in the industry, called me up and asked for a meeting.
“It was a real pinch-yourself moment and the meeting we had when I met Jay-Z was just unbelievable. It was so nerve-racking, interesting, exciting and weird all at the same time.
“You know when you can feel someone’s power? It was like that – you could just tell when you walked in the room that he was powerful and successful. Now it feels like we’ve known each other a long time. I get lots of advice from him. He’s not just a great friend, but a boss and a brother.”
Rita has pursued a career in showbiz from a young age and went to the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School in London.
“I loved the school,” she says. “My choir teacher at primary school told me about the school. The audition was massively exciting and I’m really proud of the fact I got in and went.
“I really didn’t think I’d be good enough, but then the only thing I was ever interested in was singing. Ever since I was really little, like six or something, it’s all I’ve wanted to do.”
The transition from theatre school to a professional life as a performer was difficult, she admits, and there were a few bumps along the way.
“There are so many people leaving there each year as brilliant performers, plus all the other schools putting out the same amount of quality. I didn’t want to go to another performing arts college after I’d done my GCSEs, although most of my friends did. I just went to a regular college and carried on writing my songs. I followed my gut, really.
“The first time I thought I might make it was when I was 14, when I was signed to a production company. That didn’t work out. A year later, I was signed to a management company, but that didn’t really work out either. There were a lot of promises, but nothing came of them. The important thing is you believe that it’s going to happen eventually and that keeps you going despite rejections and other things coming to nothing.”
Of course, with the fame comes press attention, something she is still getting used to.
“I don’t think about it,” she says of the non-music-related stories which recently have concerned her split with ex-boyfriend Rob Kardashian and rumours of romances with other people
“It’s not a distraction, and it doesn’t faze me,” she adds. “I have great people around me and I know the truth.
“The only time I have to take things into consideration is when my family are upset by something that’s written. If they’re hurt, then I’ll take it seriously.”
Rita was born in Pristina in the former Yugoslavia, now Kosovo, and moved to the UK with her Kosovar-Albanian parents when she was aged one, during the brutal conflict in the region.
She says the people of Kosovo have been hugely supportive of her and she’s “so proud” of her birth nation.
Family clearly matters. She took them to Dubai for Christmas and New Year, and when she had a well-publicised wardrobe malfunction on stage which left one of her breasts exposed, the first and only person she had to call was her mother, to apologise and promise it would never happen again.
Immediately after her UK tour, which Rita’s currently rehearsing for, she has dates in Australia and then mainland Europe.
Between now and the summer she’ll record her second album and hopes to have it released by the end of the year.
“My first album was finished when I was 19 and I’m 22 now, so I have a lot more I want to talk about and say,” she adds.
Rita’s self-titled debut featured production from the likes of Major Lazer, will.i.am, The-Dream, Stargate and Diplo, but she promises the second album will see fewer writers contributing more.
“I’m very excited about some of the people lined up, I can’t wait to work with them. But obviously I can’t say who they are yet.

Heidi Klum Bikini Photos: THG Hot Bodies Countdown

THG is counting down the 100 Hottest Bikini Bodies of 2012!
From now until the end of the year, we'll be paying tribute to the hottest of the hot with bikini photos galore. The competition is guaranteed to be sweltering.

Most recently, Brooklyn Decker bikini pics made THG's hot list.
Now, it's another rather attractive model with SI roots.

Gaining wide exposure in the magazine's annual swimsuit issue, Heidi Klum has been starring in sexy ads and photo shoots since the beginning of time.
Or so it seems. The 5'10" German beauty, now 39, has amassed a career in her profession - not to mention on Project Runway - rivaled by only a select few.
Heidi made news a lot this year because she and Seal split. That was sad.
She also began seeing her bodyguard Martin Kristen. Happier for her.
Fornicating with the help or not, she remains a devoted mother, a successful business woman and an absolute stunner with a penchant for social media.
One not afraid of a little exhibitionism, that's for sure. Wow.

2043 Census Projection: Minority-Majority America

A 2043 census projection estimates that white Americans will be the minority at that time, reflecting the dramatic demographic shifts in the U.S. population.
The Census Bureau's newly released population projections predict that this will occur two years after the total population exceeds 400 million people.
Census Projection
This highly symbolic shift to a "majority-minority" nation is due to the huge growth of the U.S. Hispanic population while the white population will decrease.
Not just as a percentage of the nation, but in total numbers.
According to the Census predictions, there will be 19 million fewer whites in 2060 than today, based on the age of the population and projected rates of reproduction.
This demographic view of the country five decades from now can be misleading, however, due to the way race and ethnicity are reported to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Because Hispanic origin is reported independently of one's race, there will be an increasingly large number of people who fall into multiple categories.
When one looks at predictions for the white and black population including those who count themselves as Hispanic or biracial, the picture looks very different:
This also assumes that recent trends, the Census definition of race and ethnicity, and the cultural definition of race and ethnicity, remain unchanged through 2060.
From a political standpoint, this would appear to benefit the minority-heavy Democratic party, though voting coalitions are an extremely fluid thing.
The bloc of voters who supported President Obama in 2012 might not back another Democrat in 2016, let alone 2060, depending on numerous variables.
Still, Republicans might want to retool their message a bit on a national scale and not brag about their performance among white voters going forward
