September has been quite a whirlwind month for me, Instincters. This month, I've been preparing to move—or rather putting off packing the endless boxes that line my apartment walls as long as possible—in addition to photographer Vincent Dilio and I shooting our final two editorials for the November and December/January issues. I've also been working hard moisturizing and exfoliating for the upcoming Instinct Grooming Awards and, in the middle of all this wonderful chaos, a little thing called New York Fashion week happened. I crammed in as many shows as I could (as well as a few after parties for good measure), and here were three of my favorites...fashion shows, that is.
Joseph Abboud
Joseph Abboud's Spring/Summer '13 collection show was held at the New York Public Library in the Celeste Bartos Forum. The Library on 42nd Street is quite an impressive and elegant building, and the clothes that walked the runway that evening felt right at home. Bernardo Rojo drew his inspiration from Hollywood icons like James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause, with a collection that was a mix of classic American sportswear staples styled with an ease and flair—perfect for today’s hot rods, like Ryan Lochte sitting in the front row. There was a great mix of graphic print pieces, bright pops of color and highly wearable outerwear pieces. The collection reminded me what classic American sportswear can be at its best.
